Free CISA Exam Question # 1

Hey Guys, I am starting a new series on frequently asked questions and answers in the Certified Information Systems Auditor Exam held by ISACA. Please feel free to leave your comments below:

Q). Out of the following which activity will be performed FIRST when acquiring a new software?

1. Identification of data processing requirements
2. Comparison of delivery schedules to requirements
3. Negotiation of prices
4. Establishing business needs

Answer:

The answer to the question is 'Identification of data processing requirements'. It might look as if the first thing to be done is establishing business need, however, if one reads the question carefully, in the initial stage, the activity that will be performed first is identification of processing requirements. Before acquiring any software business need is already established any hence is not an issue. So the answer is '1'.

thanks for the wonderful site & thought.

Are you sure of the answer?
I feel Establishing business needsis more vital. Only after establishment of business needs, you need togofor a new software. Kindly enlighten me on this, if my view is wrong.

I am also taking the CISA Dec 06exam and I hope I can use this to share our views.

Thank you.
