Oracle Application Flexfield

In Oracle 11i Application module, a Flexfield is a field that allows a user to customize the Oracle application. A Flexfield is thus an intelligent field. Each Flexfield in Oracle in turn consists of sub-fields called segments. Each segment is assigned a value set. The value set consists of values.

The main purpose of using Flexfields in Oracle is to customize Oracle applications according to the business environment and practices. Oracle 11i Application allows a user to validate values that are entered in these flexfields. A user can change the structure of a Flexfield depending on the data in the application.

There are two types of Flexfields in Oracle 11i Aplications. Key Flexfields and Descriptive Flexfields.
