COMPUTER OPERATOR

(A) Main purpose of job

To operate a mainframe computer, including data input and retrieval, to meet scheduled output requirements.

B Main responsibilities

1) Carry out appropriate actions to ensure that the computer is correctly started up.

2) Loading the computer with correct softwares.

3) Checking system peripherals and systems for proper actions.

4) In case of problems take neccesary corrective steps.

5) Keying neccesary data in the computer.

6) Retrieve data from the computer and produce reports as required.

7) Monitor applications and systems operation

8) Checking of applciations, systems, data to ensure that they meet norms lai down.

(C) Knowledge, skills and experience required
The job requires:

Detailed knowledge of the computer’s operating processes; awareness of the work schedules.
