ORACLE GL - SET OF BOOKS / CHART OF ACCOUNTS

ORACLE GL - SET OF BOOKS / CHART OF ACCOUNTS

In Oracle GL a Set of books is a mix of many items. A set of Books in Oracle GL contains the follwing -

- Currency
- Chart of Accounts
- Calendar
- Key Accounting Flexfield structure (KAFF)

All of the above make up the Set of Books in Oracle General Ledger. An important thing to note is that in Oracle, a Set of books may be shared by many organizations. But the catch is they must have the same Currency, Calendar, and Chart of Accounts.

In Oracle General Ledger, defining a Chart of Accounts is neccesary. The pre-requisites for defining a Chart of Accounts are 1) entering Account Code Combinations (ACC) and 2) defining the KAFF structure. Before one can start using Oracle Financials, it is neccesary to have the Set of Books configured.

Hi,

What constitutes a set of Tax Books in Oracle 11i parlance?

Also, how is data migrated from the GL to a Legal Entity report?

Thanks,

After the implementation of ERP we found that our two companies can't close independently because Oracle implemented one set of book.

Even though this was one of our major requirements, Oracle saying we have to start from 0.
