As a first step one has to define a primary Set of Books in the Oracle Payables ERP. Oracle Payables provides the facility to set the GL profile option. User can use the Application Developer responsibility to set the GL Set of Books ID profile option to "updateable".

The System Administrator responsibility function can be used to set the GL Set of Books profile option. Whichever responsibility is chosen same is used for the books of accounts. In case of single set of books the option i.e. responsibiltity is to be defined at the Application level. In case of multiple set of books installation, option is to be defined for each and every organization or combination of organizations.
