Information Technology Glossary - ABEND

Information Technology Glossary - ABEND

ABEND is nothing but an abnormal end. It is the abnormal termination of a software program. This might be due to a system crash. The word ABEND has been originally derived from an error message that would come on the IBM 360 computer. ABEND nowdays, does not come in error messages. The result of an ABEND is possible security vulnerabilities and violations. ABEND is also commonly used in computer terminology to terminate a software program or activity which can be harmful to the computer system as such.
