Oracle General Ledger 11i - Posting Journal Entries
Oracle General Ledger 11i - Posting Journal Entries
Oracle GL is very flexible and offers some very unique features for recording journal entries. I am today discussing how journal entries can be posted in Oracle GL. Essentially, journal entries are posted in Oracle GL either individually or as a batch. If you want to post journal entries in batches, the Post Journal window lists all the journal entry batches. It also displays the Post status and batch status. All one has to do is select the batch and post it. On the other hand in the Enter Journal window, one can post an individual journal or a journal window.
Journal Entry Posting sometimes gives an error. This may be due to any of the following reasons.
- An attempt is made to post journal entries in unopened periods.
- There are unbalanced journals and suspense posting is disabled.
- Lastly, in case one is using control totals, and the actual batch total does not match the control total.
Since we are today discussing Posting Journal Entries, I would like to mention a couple of important things here. Oracle GL will automatically balance unbalanced journals in case Suspense posting is enabled. And it also balances Intercompany IC Journals in case Intercompany IC balancing is enabled.
