ISO OSI Layer 6 Presentation Layer
ISO OSI Layer 6 Presentation Layer
The Presentation Layer in the ISO OSI Layer Framework takes care of differences in various data presentation formats. It transforms data from application to network format, and vice versa. The presentation layer works to transform data into the form that the application layer can accept. Presentation layer, formats and encrypts data to be sent across a network, providing freedom from compatibility problems. Presentation layer is also sometimes called as syntax layer. Some of the problems with this layer are poor handling of input, cryptographic flaws, information leakage etc.
Some of the controls in the presentation layer include, correct selection of input, continous review of cryptographic solutions and data sanity checks.
