Oracle GL General Ledger Version 11i - Budgetary Control in Oracle GL 11i / Oracle GL Budgeting process

Oracle has come up with many new features in its new 11i version of Oracle General Ledger. Budgetary control is one such new feature. However, using Budgetary Control is optional in Oracle GL. Only some organizations configure budgetary control. But, how to configure the Budgetary process in Oracle GL. Budgetary control can be configured in the Set of Books definition by enabling the Budgetary Control option.

While configuring Budgetary Control in Oracle GL, one needs to decide the degree of control required for the budgeting process. Oracle GL provides the following options: 1) Absolute or Advisory, 2) Detail or Summary, 3) Limits / Budget amounts, and the 4) Budgetary Control Group process. Budgetary control in Oracle requires defined periods, accounts and budget amounts. A budget period can be defined in the "Define Budget Window". Accounts can be defined in the "Define Budget Organization Window". and finally, amounts can be entered in many ways, including entry of budget amounts and journals, Upload, MassBudgets, Formulas, and Transfer.
