The term "Business Process" comes up frequently in our day to day work. For the purposes of Sarbanes Oxley what does business process or business cycle actually mean. Simply speaking, a business process or business cycle is

" a series of transactions that enable a company to achieve its objectives".

Thus, a business process may consist of many transactions some simple some complex which combined achieve a business objective. To take an example, the business process of "order to cash" may start with getting an order from a customer, executing the order, making the delivery of goods ordered, shipping the goods, processing the invoices, and finally collecting cash from the customer.
