Transactional Level Auditing For Better Compliance

Transactional Level Auditing For Better Compliance

Large companies normally deal with a lot of transactional data. Even within the transactional data, it is important to classify routine and non-routine transactions. Normally non-routine transactions are audited more throughly than routine transactions. These may include high value transactions as some unique transaction having a major impact on financials. Transactional level auditing helps in auditing huge number of records especially transactional data.

Transaction level auditing also gains importance because of the fact that it is difficult for an audit team to audit all 100 percent transactions. Specialized CAATs computer assisted audit techniques can be used for transaction auditing which may include use data analysis softwares which can summarize, stratify, classify huge amounts of data. One can use Benford's analysis, duplicates check, check gaps etc in the data. All this helps the auditor in makling better decisions and scoping the audit appropriately.
