Oracle Application Financials Restricting Access to Sensitive Functions Forms 11i
Restricting access to sensitive functions and forms is important part of the overall controls in Oracle Applications. Segregation of duties and sensitive functions forms are hot topics of discussions in any seminar on Oracle Applications. Though any Oracle applications have thousands of functions, it is important to restrict key functions and forms only to selected users. These users should be aware of the functions throughly and the impact it will have on transaction processing. Below, I am listing some sensitive functions in Oracle which companies can restrict. Kindly note that the list below is not exhaustive.
1. Archive and purge account balances and journal entries
2. Assigning descriptive flexfield security values and descriptive mode form
3. Who can define calendars and periods
4. Restricting access to flexfield cross validation forms
5. Restricting access to defining column sets
6. Restricting access to key flexfield segments forms
7. Restricting access to mass maintenance workbench wherein submit purge from workbench.
8. Apart from the above sensitive reports like balance sheet, profit and loss account should also be restricted to only specific users.
