Enterprise Service Bus - Service Oriented Architecture

Enterprise Service Bus - Service Oriented Architecture

Many organisations today are embracing service oriented architecture. SOA aims at looking at
business process as services which are delivered across the enterprise. In an organisation with dozens of legacy systems, integrating these to combine a common service delivery platform is a challenge. The first step in SOA lies in looking at how the different systems talk to each other. Communication protocols i.e. the way messages travel across enterprise networks are as varied as the systems themselves.

When organisations look at business process as web services, all pieces of information should be able to communicate with other pieces of information. The message transport layer plays n important role in exchange of data. Some of these formats of message transport may include TCP/IP, Java messaging service, http etc. Would'nt it be easier if the task of translating message protocols would be handled automatically, The enterprise service bus, which is a software architecture does exactly this. It creates a common message transport layer through which all the organisations systems can communicate with each other. ESB thus makes the task of SOA service oriented architecture much easier.
